He didn’t have to make ocean waves sparkle with glittered edges,
cause the sun to rise gently to wake the day,
or make hearts flutter at the gaze of another.
He didn’t have to make a baby laugh with his mother.
But He did.
He did that for love.
For love that pours over our scorched earth over and over again.
He didn’t have to make a dog to give us joy,
a flower to give fragrance,
Or create a day to have a rhythm.
He didn’t have to create trees with far-reaching arms,
mountain tops for singing, or valleys for deep thinking.
The beauty, the pain, the loss, and the gain –
He holds it all in hands where love stayed.
Love stayed through the betrayal, the anguish,
the splinters, the searing steel tearing straight through Him to the cross of our salvation.
He holds all of life in scarred hands that reach for you, that reach for me.
His hands still have room enough for all of us.
Praise God, you hold us.
Praise God, you hold all of us.

Amen!
God is amazingly kind, isn’t He?! “Or do you show contempt for the riches of God’s kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that His kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?” Romans 2:4.
Yes, Linda, He is so kind. 🙂 Romans 2:4 is a verse packed with truth, making it one that I want to process with a good cup of coffee and a quiet corner.
