I Heard the Lion Roar

I heard the lion roar at sunrise as I started my early morning walk away from the dark of the night toward the early morning glow. It was then that I was reminded You, God, are in control. I needed that reminder because I woke in a funk and hauled my tired body from my bed. My mind was already running through its relentless maze. Careening through the “must dos” straight toward the “shoulds” and “why didn’t you?” And then circling around to the heartaches and confusion of the past several years. All of this was zapping me of my strength and slightest resolve. It was then that I heard the lion roar near the zoo where I walked that early morning. It was a powerful reminder of the One who holds me, the One who gently leads me, who knows my anxious thoughts, whose burden is light, who doesn’t lay a heavy yoke upon me. He is the Lion of Judah. The Great I Am. And I am His daughter whom He leads with great care and love, giving strength as needed for the day.

Psalm 73:26 “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

Revelation 5:5 “Do not weep. See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.”

Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
